Men's Swimsuits | What Type Should You Wear?
‘Aaron the American’ presents his point-of-view about men’s swimsuits. Keep in mind that American styles don’t equal world styles. As Americans, we are a bit shy about our bodies.
What Type of Suit Should You Wear?
Regardless of where you live, don’t wear a men’s bathing suit with an elastic waist band. Elastic creates a ballooning effect as opposed to a solid, fabric band which creates a slimming effect.
Typically, men’s swimsuits come in small, medium, large, extra large. Be sure to get a fit that is snug. The drawstring doesn’t keep the suit in place.
As far as the length, go right above the knee. The visual lines are broken with a longer length. And the trend currently is a shorter men’s suit (mid-thigh), which is okay if you can pull it off as the suit can make you look taller and leaner. A Speedo is not acceptable in the United States but in other parts of the world this type of suit is acceptable.
Alpha advises keeping the color subdued. Typically, if you are wearing a bright and bold suit, have darker skin so that you don’t look washed out.If you are looking for a good deal with suits, check out Old Navy and Target.
Own more than one suit too– need at least two in order to rotate but preferably three.
