There’s nothing more amazing than a good friend. But on the flip side, there’s nothing worse than thinking someone’s your friend when they’re not. In this video men’s style, grooming, fitness, and lifestyle expert Aaron Marino of IAmAlphaM https://iamalpham.com/ AaronMarino https://aaronmarino.com/ Pete & Pedro https://peteandpedro.com/ Tiege Hanley https://www.tiege.com/and ENEMY https://enemy.com/ got stabbed in the back the other day. He should have realized earlier that the guy wasn’t his friend.
How to know your friend is FAKE
- They are an ASK-hole — they’re always dumping their emotional baggage on you. These fake friends ask for advice, which you give them, but they never it. These fake friends also always seem to make bad decisions.
- They talk or gossip behind your back — Alpha just found out a ‘decent’ friend was trashing him behind his back. Alpha confronted the guy, but the guy lied about the situation. This recent situation wasn’t the first with this ‘friend,’ and now they are no longer friends.
- They aren’t excited, happy, or proud when you succeed — good friends are your cheerleaders; fake friends downplay the situation. Make and stay friends with those who want the best for you, which is the 3rd rule in Jordan Peterson’s book, “Twelve Rules for Life.” Alpha highly recommends this life-changing book.
- They freak-out whenever you call them on their bullsh!t — these fake friends turn the table and yell at you. They may even not talk to you for a while. They should be able to handle constructive criticism rather than blow-up on you, and they should respect your opinion.
- You have to walk on eggshells — you should not have to walk on eggshells around your friends or spicy senoritas. You should be able to be yourself and honest.
- You only hear from them when they need something — if they are genuinely your friend, they engage with you regularly. Some friends you don’t talk all the time, but when you do talk, they aren’t calling because they need something.
- They don’t have your back and don’t stand up for you — they will defend you when someone’s talking trash (even if you’re not 100% right).
