People disagree; however, there are varying degrees of disagreements. The point is to get your point across rather than slicing at the knees.
Arguing Like a Gentleman
- Play fair – get your point across in a dignified manner
- Respect what the other person says – hear the point but you don’t have to agree
- Argue and attack the point, not the person
- Don’t bring up the past – if you’ve forgiven the person, don’t bring it up in an argument.
- Be open to new ideas – listen with an open mind
- Admit when you’re wrong
- Apologize when appropriate
- Agree to disagree
- Know when to walk away
